Renowned for its pristine, abundant underground water—unique in Hokkaido for having zero upper waterway coverage and honored among Japan's 100 best waters of the Heisei era—the town is a canvas for nature's artistry, changing with each season. It's a harmonious for purity seekers,  and a new haven of our spirits.

These pristine waters form the foundation of Tankyu Distillery's spirits. Leveraging this pure, subterranean gift, we meticulously crat spirits that capture the unspoiled beauty and freshness of their source.

Nestled on a 10,000 sqft land in the heart of Higashikawa, beneath the majestic Mount Daisetsu, Tankyu Distillery is a hamonious blend of Hong Kong's vibrant legacy and Japan's renowned craftmanship. Our  location is not just a place; it's the soul of our spirit, influenced by the purest water and extremem seasonal contrasts.

The project operates on a unique 'public build, private operate' model. This approach involves significant investment and construction support from local government, while the distilery retains private ownership and operational control. This model fosters a close relationship with the local community and ensures adhherence to high environmental and production standards. Such a partnerhsip reflects a commitment to both the local environment and to delivering permium-quality spirits to consumers.

Milestones

In April 2024, the visionary construction of Tankyu Distillery begins. This foundational phase is slated for completion by November 2024, setting the stage for the distillery's operational debut.

 

January 2025 marks the commencement of gin and whisky production, a fusion of traditional methods and innovative practices.

 

The journey reaches a significant milestone in 2028 with the anticipated release of Tankyu's inaugural single malt whisky, a testament to enduring dedication and craftsmanship.
